Today, I recorded and sent off my brief summary video. Also, I am communicating with this years Provisional Fellows on ways they can help to set up the room for the upcoming Fellows Fair on Friday. I continue to work on my podcast while creating a presentation!

After some personal setbacks, I am excited to sit down and detail the work I completed over spring break. My beloved cat Sneaky found herself a bit under the weather, so the last few days have been spent keeping a close eye on her to ensure her health is improving.
As stated in my most recent update, my spring break goals primarily focused on editing and publishing my 8th podcast, as well as securing slots for my final two installments. I have yet to publish my 8th podcast since while listening back, I was inspired to try something new. Instead of simply posting my conversation with Mara Edgar I wanted to splice it into a larger conversation, with myself adding subsequent commentary. To restate, I am editing in Mara's anecdotes and experience to my own speaking. Based on the flow of the conversation, I believe this is the most efficient way to produce the recorded conversation. Since this editing obviously makes the post-production most longer, I am hoping to have this finished and published in the next week. I am still working on scheduling two upcoming podcasts and reaching out to possible interviewees! Before spring break I met with my mentor, Mr. Otero, to decide what my goals would look like. We discussed finalizing my most recent recording and creating definitive schedules for my final two podcasts. So, I will be working on solidifying the work I will complete in April, and start looking to May.
I am currently working on editing and posting my 8th podcast with Mara Edgar, and in the meantime am brainstorming what my spring break goals will be. I hope to have my 9th podcast recorded before spring break, but with only 2 more to record I don't feel rushed, and would rather focus on ensuring the quality of the podcasts. I will be scheduling a time to meet with my mentor, Mr. Otero, to gather his opinion on the future direction of my podcast.
I feel a tremendous sense of accomplishment after having completed my midterm review. The presentation went very smoothly, and I was incredibly pleased with my speaking. I am also very grateful to the attendees, Ms. Carsely, Mr. Lagarde, and my mentor, Mr. Otero. I am happy to have that under my belt and to continue my work! This week, I have my first meeting with a future interviewee to discuss the podcasting process and what an interview will look like question-wise. I hope to have all 10 podcasts done before spring break.
In the last few weeks, I have completed scheduling for my three upcoming podcasts. I will be hosting a conversation on men's mental health, confronting climate change in the classroom, and creating company policy about DEI. These will all be completed before spring break, and in the meantime I will work on scheduling even more podcasts; I see myself exceeding my 10 podcast goal. I am also preparing for my midterm review presentation on Friday!
Earlier this month, I posted my first interview podcast with activist and filmmaker, Cheyenne Taylor Jacobs. I could not have asked for a kinder or more understanding person to work with. I was able to conduct a wonderful conversation with her ad walked away feeling like I truly learned so much from her and her perspective. This podcast can be found on my YouTube channel, something insightful, or from the link on my "dig deeper" page. I continue to seek out more interviewees and look forward to these experiences.
Unfortunately, since my last update I contracted COVID-19 and was unable to complete all of the work I initially set out to do over break. The process of editing the interview podcast is much more time consuming and strenuous than my previous podcasts, where it was only me speaking. I hope to have published this podcast by the end of the week, and continue seeking out possible guests.
Since my last update, I have made a large step in my progress! On Tuesday, I recorded my first interview podcast with Cheyenne Taylor Jacobs, and it went amazingly, to say the least. Cheyenne is a writer, filmmaker, and outspoken activist. I discovered her work after attending the Georgetown Day School Summit on Sexual Assault and Consent where she ran a workshop talking about gender-based violence in America. The conversation ran smoothly, and all thats left is to edit it and turn it into something people can listen to. This gets into what I spoke with Mr. Otero about for what I will be completing over winter break. I plan on fully editing and putting together the recordings from this week, and posting them. I will also then post a general script for our conversation. I am waiting to hear back from some other people, but will continue to develop a list of possible interviewees.
Coming into the winter season, I am hopeful and excited for the near future! I have received the equipment for interview podcasting and set everything up, creating a cohesive space that may be used in my house. I have also gone through the logistics of the equipment with GarageBand, and been spending my time experimenting with the two sounds. In the meantime, I continue expanding my list of possible interviewees and conducting research. I am hopeful to interview a few authors I discovered based on books, and am in the process of reading those books so I may either use them as references in future podcasts or as a conversation topic with the author, if I am lucky enough to snag an interview with them!
